Vineyards
The fruit was sourced selected individual vineyard sites across Central Victoria ranging
from the rolling, temperate plains of the Goulburn Valley and Nagambie Lakes; to
granite strewn, high altitude vineyards in the Strathbogie Ranges. Soil types vary
from the loosely textured, easy draining gravelly soils along the Goulburn River to the
alluvial/colluvial sands and sandy loams made up of decomposed granite, quartz and
ironstone gravel over clay in the Ranges. The result is fruit of generous yields and
great intensity.

Vintage Conditions
The challenges of the 2011 vintage were followed by a mild autumn that rolled
into a cool winter. Rainfall was under the long term average but still sufficient to
support a healthy vigour as we looked towards 2012. A wet and humid start to
summer was balanced with a very dry finish that led to an earlier than normal start
to harvest (mid-February). We were blessed with an Indian summer through most
of autumn with warm days and cool nights allowing grapes to ripen slowly and be
harvested at their optimum. Excellent varietal fruit expression was symptomatic
across all whites, with the reds exhibiting deep, vibrant colour and intense primary
fruit characters.

Winemaking
The Sauvignon Blanc fruit was picked and crushed during the cool of the night to
ensure retention of the fresh varietal characters and preservation of fruit flavour.
After crushing the must was pressed and settled at 0oC – 2oC. A relatively aromatic
yeast strain was used for inoculation and this parcel was cool fermented for 2-3
weeks. Post fermentation the wine was stabilised, filtered and blended for bottling.

Tasting Notes
This unwooded wine displays bright and intense grassy aromas with
lifted tropical notes. The palate is equally vibrant with kiwifruit,
lychee and citrus fruits finishing with a refreshing, vivid acidity.
